Be a Zoo Keeper for Half a Day

Being a zoo keeper for half a day makes a unique and memorable gift for anyone 6 to 15 years old.

Under the supervision of the keepers, help clean out and feed a variety of animals from around the world. From snakes and spiders to monkeys and meerkats, get to know our animals up close and help out with their daily care. You’ll get to experience first hand what zoo keepers get up to on a daily basis.

For a donation of £98.00 you will receive:

  • Half a day with the zoo keepers
  • Access into a variety of animal enclosures under the supervision of the keepers
  • A personalised certificate of being a zoo keeper for a day
  • A poster of one of your favourite animals
  • A gift bag

The day starts at 9.45am when you will meet the keepers and watch them getting the animal feeds ready. You will then help out with feeding animals and cleaning out enclosures in each of our different zoo sections. Lunch is usually at 11:30am. After lunch you will continue assisting the keepers until your day finishes at 1.45pm.

If you would like to buy a zoo keeper for a half day experience, please visit our online shop here or call the zoo office on 01506 870 000. For bookings over the phone, payment is normally made by debit/credit card and the credit card receipt together with the invitation is then forwarded by post.

Bookings can either be made for a specific date or an open voucher can be issued, which are valid for 1 year from the date of booking.  Please note these are non refundable. These experiences are very popular, so please book your date promptly on receipt of your open voucher.

Please note, keeper for a half day experiences are available on weekends and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during the school holidays.

For the safety of our staff and visitors, we have made the decision to close the zoo from tonight. Our team of dedicated keepers and vet will continue to make sure all our animals are well looked after. We hope this will not be for too long a period but we will follow government advice and guidelines.

If you would like to donate towards the zoo, we appreciate any help although we know this is a difficult time for everyone.
Thank you all for your continued support and hope we can welcome you all back soon.
