Southern Mealy Amazon - Five Sisters Zoo

A member of the parrot family, the Southern Mealy Amazon is one of the larger parrots with feathers primarily in varying shades of green, with distinctive blue and red/pink feathers on their wings. They possess the very strong, hooked beaks that are typical of parrots and will use them to break open seeds and other items that make up their diet. The Southern Mealy Amazon is known for having a very loud and raucous call, particularly when multiple parrots are in a group together.
