Dwarf Crocodile - Five Sisters Zoo

Individuals are mostly dark in colour, they have a yellowish belly with black patches.  Dwarf crocodiles are the smallest crocodiles in the world.

  • Diet: Carnivores.
  • Weight: 18 to 35 kg.
  • Length: up to 1.8 metres
  • Habitat: Tropical Rainforest.
  • Life span: up to 75 years

Adapted to survive

  • The have heavily armoured plated scales to protect them to from larger predators.
  • They have eyelids that protect the eyes without covering their vision; they can see under the water and what is over the surface.

Threats

  • Poaching, alteration and loss of their habitat
