Five Sisters Zoo 2026 Higher Education Work shadowing – Application Deadline 6th of February, at 17:00

We are excited to offer six one-week work shadowing placements in the summer of 2026. This opportunity is available to students studying a relevant course at a university or college (veterinary studies, zoology, animal biology, animal behaviour, animal management, etc). These placements are designed to give students an insight into some of the varied roles within a zoo setting. Successful applicants should prepare for a busy week working across several departments (including animal care, education and maintenance). Please note that you MUST notify us in your application of any shadowing weeks that you would be unable to attend. We aim to notify successful applicants of the dates of their shadowing placement by Friday the 6th March, 2026.

2026 Work Shadowing dates:

Week 1: Monday June 29th– Friday July 3rd

Week 2: Monday July 6th – Friday July 10th

Week 3: Monday July 13th – Friday July 17th

Week 4: Monday July 20th – Friday July 24th

Week 5: Monday July 27th – Friday July 31st

Week 6: Monday August 10th – Friday August 14th

To apply, students must send a copy of their CV and a cover letter to adam@fivesisterszoo.co.uk. Please state in your cover letter any of the above dates that you would not be able to attend. We expect a high demand for places, so we may ask applicants to participate in a short ZOOM interview. If you have not heard from us by the 6th of March, then please assume your application has not been successful. We may not be able to provide feedback on every application. The application deadline is Friday, the 6th of February, at 17:00. No late applications will be considered.

These work shadowing placements are for students in higher education only. Please note that applications from high school students will not be accepted.
