Emerald Starling - Five Sisters Zoo

The Emerald Starling possesses distinctive iridescent green feathers across most of its body, with deep purple feathers across its breast and under the beak. They are a social species who generally live in groups, and some evidence exists that they will engage in cooperative parenting during breeding season.

Habitat: Guinea, Sierra Leone and Cote d’Ivoire; they prefer tall tress or shrubs with space or areas on the savannah, avoiding densely packed forests.

Life Span:  up to 25 years under human care; wild lifespan varies
