Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak we are not accepting any volunteering applications. All of our current volunteers have been told to stay at home. We hope to welcome volunteers back to the zoo and start accepting applications for new volunteer positions soon! Please note, if you do send an application for a volunteering role over to the zoo nobody will respond at this time.

We run a volunteering programme! Volunteers provide much needed help to our zoo staff, and in return we offer our volunteers an invaluable experience within the zoo field.

Zoo Keeping Volunteers

We have a dedicated team of zoo keepers who oversee all aspects of animal care in the zoo. Our zoo keeping volunteer team assist our keeping staff with everything from feeding the animals, to cleaning enclosures, to providing enrichment.

We ask our volunteers to commit to at least one day every week/fortnight/month, for a minimum period of 6 months*. Anyone wishing to volunteer must be at least 16 years of age for insurance purposes and have their own means of getting to and from the zoo.

If you would like any further information on volunteering at the zoo, please email recruitment@fivesisterszoo.co.uk or call the office on 01506 870 000.

* References will only be provided for those who complete the minimum period of 6 months

If you can’t commit that much time, or you’re not quite old enough, we offer work experience placements for those aged 15 yrs and up and currently in education. Or if one day a week isn’t enough, we also offer internships for those aged 18 years and up who are doing/have done animal-based studies.

We also offer volunteering within our education department.
