Rescue Tortoise Adoption

£30.00

Sadly, despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, wildlife is still being trafficked illegally. Five Sisters Zoo has been asked in these difficult times to rescue more than one hundred small baby hatchling red footed tortoises, seized as part of an illegal international operation by law enforcement. Originally from countries including Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela, these tortoises sadly cannot be safely returned to the wild, and it is tragic that the start of their life has been so horribly difficult, but the zoo is determined to care for them and give them a better life.

With everyone limiting social contact due to coronavirus, and no visitors to the zoo to support this work at the moment, we urgently need your help to best care for these tortoises. Please do consider adopting one of these tortoises, to support our rescue work.

Adoptions cost £30.00 and as a thank you will receive an adoption certificate, a fact sheet & a photograph of your tortoise.

All 113 tortoises have now been names.
