This topic provides an introduction to the rainforest and biodiversity. Children will have the opportunity to handles some rainforest animals and will be introduced to the animals that live in different levels of the rainforest. The follow-up activities encourage the children to think about the impact of humans on the rainforest and the environment.
It is suggested that children complete the pre-visit activities in order to establish a baseline knowledge when they arrive at the zoo.
The activities include a mixture of direct teachers from the zoo staff, active learning, critical skills and enquiry challenges. They also encourage the children to work both independently and as part of a group.
