Project Description

Life Cycle & Reproduction

This topic, aimed at older students, provides an introduction to life cycles and reproduction. Children can observe animals at various life stages, looking at differences between age groups and differences between the sexes.  They will also investigate how animals form family units and how traits are passed from parents to young. Children are encouraged to consider how this compares to humans.

It is suggested that children complete the pre-visit activities in order to establish a baseline knowledge when they arrive at the zoo.

The activities include a mixture of direct teachers from the zoo staff, active learning, critical skills and enquiry challenges. They also encourage the children to work both independently and as part of a group.
